Drive smoothly, avoiding accelerating and braking, especially when urban driving, it uses much more fuel. Slow down well ahead of junctions to minimise braking and reduce fuel consumption. Remember, sticking with the speed limit also reduces fuel usage, most vehicles are more efficient at 55 to 60 mph.
Reduce excess weight as much as possible, if you don't need it then take it out of the boot! Reduce drag by removing roof boxes, bike racks or other accessories when not in use.
Finally make sure your vehicle is in good condition. Have it serviced regularly, reducing service intervals actually costs you more in higher fuel consumption. Always make sure your tyres are in good condition and inflated correctly according to manufacturers recommendations.
